Custom pieces: describe it and Space builds it
Make a piece from a description, photo, sketch, PDF, DXF or 3D model; adjust every part; on Shop and CNC it goes into the cut list and price.
For millwork that isn't on the shelf: a bar, a bookcase wall, a hutch, a vanity of your own design. Basic, Shop and CNC plans.
Make a piece
- Under Cabinets, open the Built-ins tab and press Make a piece.
- Describe the piece, or add a photo, sketch or drawing of it: photos and sketches, PDF drawings, DXF files, or a 3D model (STEP, STL, OBJ, GLB, as a fixed shape).
- Press Make it. Space reads the sizes and the parts and builds it in 3D, on the floor plan and on the elevations. Start from a plain cabinet skips the reading.
Each shop can make 50 pieces a month. Reading needs you to be signed in and online.
Change it
The piece editor takes the place of the cabinet panel.
- Change the whole piece: its size, finish, door style, base (toe kick, plinth, legs or feet) and crown.
- Pick a tier, section or cell, or click a part in the room, and type its size. Type even to share what's left with the others.
- Split in two, Copy, move and delete sections and cells. Say what each cell holds: drawers, shelves, a door (hinges left or right, arched top), or open.
- Add parts and change their shape and material.
In the shop and the price
- Shop and CNC: each section becomes boxes in the cut list and machine files, named CP1-1, CP1-2 and so on. The base, the tops (stone tops by the counter maker), the crown and any added parts are listed under Made in the shop, with sizes.
- Price: each piece gets a line, from its width at the line's rate a foot times your custom-piece rate under Rates. Until you set that rate, pieces stay out of the price. See "Prices, estimates and the Price tab".
